Dry and clear to start of the middle month of this summer, and it looks as though we might even have lost that easterly wind for now as the wind has died right down.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 10.5ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 13.5ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Variable winds and sunny from the start. Here's hoping for a SE wind today so we can join in with the UK's heat again

Anyway, today has got off to a nice and sunny start for a change with 2.6 hours of sunshine having been recorded for today so far as at 8am this morning and although I'm not actually expecting today to be the sunniest day of the year so far, today could end up putting in quite a strong challenge for that if it stays completely sunny between now and sunset.

However, last night was quite chilly for the time of year with an overnight minimum temperature of 7.7ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 9.7ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Nevertheless, we have lost that annoying easterly wind for now and the temperatures have already started to respond nicely to the strong sunshine at this time of year. As long as those easterlies stay away from here, it could end up getting quite hot here later on today as a result.

In the meantime, the temperature at 8am this morning was 14.8ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 14.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

And here comes that bloody NE wind again! Ah well at least it's sunny but I think we'll struggle to get 21 C again. Only 19 C yesterday. Touch and go whether to go out in shorts today? May take a jumper too.

Certainly a much more summer-like feel to things now that the nor'easter is gone. Already reaching 27 C & 50% H in hazy sunshine and it's not even 11 am yet.

Echoing other posters in the south east this morning. New airmass. Very warm and heavy early this morning. Small amounts of high cirrus hint at moister air. Baking morning even if the thermometer showing β€˜only’ 25C at 1030am. I was happy with our air conditioning easterly of previous days. Today could be hot!
