In the far south west we are getting spoilt with these NE-SE winds!!
It's warm
It's sunny
The sea temp is a couple of degrees up due to the surface water warming. Normally the SW breeze brings in cooler waters from the Atlantic.
However the UV is forecast at 9 today so skin beware...

Still cloudy here. Just drove to Ellon (about 6 miles away) and it was lovely and sunny...

Just unbelievable. Almost as soon as the cloud cleared a sea breeze set in and now the sky is almost completely full of vile North Sea cloud.

Temperature is an absolutely disgusting 14.2C when earlier this week some of the models were showing 23C. I can't express in words how hacked off I am with enduring this endless barrage of crap. It is as bleak and depressing as living in Shetland.

Now doubt it will be like this all week and next weekend

How on earth can 20C be described as rare in June when by the end of the month the average max is 17C? It's the least we should be expecting in a supposed warm spell.

Also the record is not 26.7C. It is 28.9C though getting much past 21C seems to be a struggle these days.

Wikipedia is garbage.

The record for Dyce is 28.9C on 7th June 1950 (recorded as 84F)

https://digital.nmla.metoffice.gov.uk/file/sdb%3AdigitalFile%7C6de17326-d615-47fe-93f0-77498650329b/

The record for Craibstone, which is usually half a degree or so cooler, is also 28.9C recorded on 6th June 1939.

https://digital.nmla.metoffice.gov.uk/file/sdb%3AdigitalFile%7Cf9278d8d-b944-4978-823a-2305be34cf58/

It also reached 82F (27.8C) at Dyce in June 1959.

Of course those are all a long time ago but that just reflects how rubbish recent years have been for high temperatures.

I suppose it also reflects how crap Aberdeen is in general for high temperatures?

No it's only been over the last 15-20 years that it has become difficult to achieve high temperatures due to a constant wind off the sea. No problems before seeing spells of SW winds giving temperatures approaching the mid 20s, in most summers, which is as warm as it needs to be.

You're probably right in a way because any time that I have travelled up to Aberdeen in the past, it has always been freezing cold there  (although I would expect them to be used to that there). Yet, I've been to Inverness before which is just as far north (but quite a lot further west) and on that occasion, they actually had better weather than what we were getting here in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Latest 'Appeggee' (is that how you spell it) is going for temps into the low 30s here (and for hours on end) from Tuesday to Thursday. I pray that this 'model has gone off on one'.

There shouldn't be that much difference in temperature between Aberdeen and other places in Eastern Scotland yet I saw Leuchars at 24.5C under a WSW flow today while we were stuck at 15C with a wind off the sea

It is just so infuriating. It could have reached around 23C with a SW flow here. Don't have high hopes for this coming week at all. No W/SW winds forecast at all. Only chance of decent temperatures is if the wind is southerly rather than directly off the sea.

I doubt that the 23.9C I recorded on 2nd June will be beaten this week and could even have been the hottest day of the year. I prefer warm rather than hot temperatures but we should really be seeing one or two days in a summer climbing to 25C.

In the absence of a weather appreciation thread, I thought I should post here.

Absolutely gorgeous weather here (Epsom Downs) with deep blue skies, strong sunshine, a lovely breeze and low humidity.

Having time off this week makes it even better with all meals outside and staying in the garden until midnight.

Stratospheric impacts or not, the weather since early February has been fantastic, thank you weather gods!

The average sunshine since 9th June has been 4.3 hours per day. Three Saturdays in a row have failed to manage 5 hours sun. That is indeed appalling though it speaks volumes about the state of summer over the past decade that there have been several years when it's been even worse.

I was able to set out in the garden more last June, despite it being the wettest on record, because the evenings and weekends were often fine - far better than this year. It has been a real struggle to find any opportunity to sit in the garden for the past fortnight and I'm sick of it.

Move 20 miles inland. you'd get more snow too!

A summary of todays temperatures:

10:30am: 22.1C

1pm: 20.7C

3pm: 17.6C

6pm: 14.6C

What a load of crap. A westerly with an average max of 17C would likely see higher temperatures at this point.

Worse still a load of awful high cloud has spewed in too which has thickened enough to blot out some sun. 13.6 hours so far but looking touch and go as to whether 17 hours could be managed for the first time in my records. Given the uninspiring temperatures this was about the only point of interest left from this week.

What an utterly dreadful year this. First we have a pathetic dusting while the rest of Eastern Scotland is buried under 20cm+ snow, now we have to suffer 15C crap while the rest of Eastern Scotland basks in a 25C heatwave

I would gladly take your current temp right now Richard. 25.7c here under a think motionless high cloud, and with Dp's on the rise from here on in, it is only going to get worse.
