It reached 21c here and in quite a few places on Sunday, plus it only got down to 13c at night here.  So the daily mean would have been high and it’s still early in the month, so one day can make a significant difference.

Yes, and I guess with the mean having such a high negative anomaly even average temps will raise it somewhat.

Very interesting indeed, think we will at least be <10.5c which presumably would make it the 2nd coldest April-May combination in the CET series?

Latest CET tracker showing a mean of 10.07C by 29 May.

It is still possible the CET could finish below 10C. The last time that happened was in 1996 when the CET was a very cold 9.1C. Even if we finish a bit higher at 10.1-10.2C that would still be the coldest May since 1996.

Staying cool for the foreseeable future. Possible something a bit milder by the bank holiday weekend.

Spring CET looks like it could finish below 8C which is very cool. Still much higher than the 2013 figure which was under 7C.

All relative - two-thirds of competitors went higher than you, so you'll gain ground on all of those.

6.8C (-3.6C) here now which is an improvement on 6C below average earlier., but still way below what might be expected for April never mind May.

You know things aren't going well for the progress towards summer when you're using the word "milder" in May
