Very chilly day in London today.  Such a strange Spring when was the last time the warmest Spring day ended up being in March? Definitely a possibility now, must be a rare occurrence.

My latest CET estimate has the CET at 9.26C as of today. 


The current estimated final CET for May is just 9.78C.


It will certainly be the coldest May since 1996 and the first time the CET in May has been below 10C since 1996.

Agreed. That is an amazing stat considering we are bang in the middle of a global warming phase. Big question probably for another thread .....


Is this a big blip or the signs of a general pattern change that could be influential for years to come?

Rostherne's (near Manchester Airport) mean temperature since 2nd April from NOAA


 




That green line in the 2nd graph represents 3.0C below the average.

Nationally, it has never happened as far as I'm aware but for individual stations it has occurred on very rare occasions.
