Heavy snow for a couple of hours now decent covering on grass and cars. Just one degree colder and it would have been a significant snow event.

Heavy snow on Reigate Hill, just drove from Esher to Reigate on the M25 and the difference between Esher and Reigate Hill was huge. It always is of course but was a fun drive anyhow. The intensity was enough at the top for it to just start layingbut now in Reigate itself and no chance here but it is still snowing.

Rain turned to proper snow at 9.30 am here in S.Essex as temperature dropped. Still snowing but will of course never settle on the warm wet ground. Still, bit more than I expected to see.

Well, that hour or so of wet snow means the 2020s won't be a totally snow-free decade in my area, anyway 😉

Snow stopped at the airport about 30 minutes ago. Temperature was around freezing for a couple of hours with moderate, occasionally heavy snow making it settle (albeit it quite slushy) on all surfaces but too much traffic for it to affect most roads. Probably amounted to 2cm but is already melting steadily.

About half an inch of snow cover - Rather wet snow and the ground isn't frozen. It won't sit around for long here.

Light dusting on the cars and grass when I got up this morning.

First snow I'd seen all winter.

Had to view the security cams from about 3am to actually see it falling. Looked sleety.

Easy as my wife took pity and gave me a lift to the station

And tally - no, nothing settled. Snow was never more than moderate and everything was very wet already, so no chance.

It's been all rain at my sea level coastal end (13 mm of it) last night and into this morning, not even any sleet splodges was spotted so my record for a completely snow-free meteorological Winter in my back yard remains intact.

As mentioned by Ian we have managed a completely snowless winter...extraordinary.

The temperature dipped to 3.3c with a DP of 2.8 at it lowest around 9.30 and looked like it may 'turn'...it didn't.
