Here is a first look at the January CET. It has been remarkably mild so far. My CET estimate up to yesterday stands at 7.76C.
A little cooler today perhaps but then the CET should rise again peaking on Tuesday. My current estimate for the CET up to Tuesday is 7.91C. If that verifies it would be the 3rd warmest first 8 days of January on record which is quite something.
Here are the warmest first 8 days of January since 1772:
1992: 8.83C
1916: 8.74C
2013: 7.91C (est)
2007: 7.88C
From Thursday onwards the CET is, on current output, expected to be below average each day with means between 1C and 3C. This represents a huge change from what we have seen so far this month. However, because of the very warm start to the month we will still be above average by the 19th. Current CET estimate to the 19th is 4.61C.
