Just ticked over 28C here, feels breezy and not at all unpleasantly warm. Having amber heat warnings for yesterday and today was utterly ridiculous.

I suppose it depends where in the Amber warnings you are. They're totally justified here in South Wales - hot and unpleasant. 

We're now 2c hotter than yesterday so still expecting a 33c or 34c today, cloud dependent of course...

The warnings have been playing catch-up since they were issued. Having a warning for Monday was already looking daft on Saturday. Today's looks fairly silly as well, temperatures seem to have already peaked at about 31 in many places.

The red warnings are now already out of date, maybe they should be downgraded to amber, reduced in size and extended to Friday.

I’m so pleased we were in Disneyland Paris last week and not now.  They’ve had to close rides and cancel night time fireworks due to the heat but I wouldn’t fancy walking around in this heat anyway.   It was bordering on too hot for me at 26c. 

I get that you're disappointed as it's not as hot as you'd hoped for, but I really do think it's clouded your view somewhat - I seriously doubt temperatures have peaked when it's only 1PM, or noon in proper time. The sun's only just now reaching its highest altitude after all.

The red warning as was explained on the MetO videos on YouTube, is also based on duration, 21-22C dewpoints (as compared to "single figures" in 2022) and night minima. Maybe they'll remove it tomorrow, maybe not. Either way it's still a remarkable spell of weather!

I agree about Monday’s warning.  Today’s is fully justified though as it’s currently awful sticky at 32c.  We haven’t had any thunder or rain here either.

Weather forecasting always seems to do the same. They don't look out of the window or look at current readings. With a max of 31C at 1pm and a stiff breeze it is not going to get anywhere near 36 today. Maybe 33.

Of the hottest stations at noon, Middle Wallop had only gone up 0.04C in an hour by 1pm, Boscombe Down has gone down 0.13C, Yeovilton has gone down 0.41C, Larkhill has gone down 0.07C... etc etc. Those in the London area are still climbing but from a lower baseline.

Maybe they are including Jersey lol.

Bbc report just now had a weather presenter don't know name hold a thermometer in the sun to show it was 42c 🙃 🙃🙃🙃🙃

Also said Paris got to 45c yesterday.  Just utter shite amateur stuff.

Yep. We officially enter heatwave territory today with, currently, 31°C. It was 30 at 1pm.

Lurker here. At the risk of being shot down, I (personally) doubt very much that temperatures will 'peak' until near 5:00pm, as the extreme hot air is only just arriving across the south before embedding fully overnight.  This is a very unusal situation and the met office are still sticking to  the '36c somewhere' story for today. Maybe optomistic on their part, maybe not..

We were only expecting 32 here anyway and have reached 31, with MetO suggesting 33. There's an unusual wind that keeps flipping between SE and N. 

The real immersion in 20+ 850s becomes established tomorrow- and this has all shifted up calendar as folks were talking about roasting Monday or whatever it was maybe a week ago but the flip side is that Thursday, which at one point looked like transition day, has moved to Friday with even Saturday retaining heat in the SE.

I've also noticed the purplish colours in the 850s chart (24-25) don't touch home tomorrow- not until Thursday evening in fact; but thicknesses are still around 570dam in the south on Saturday afternoon.
