It’s a bit tricky Rob to do a nowcast adjustment to a warning issued for a few days ahead. I know you know that.

Temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank now up to 27.5°C which now gives us our first 80+°F maximum of this year, and which is also very close to the June record.

However, the temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh is still stuck at around 25°C and that is important because the temperature records which I always quote on here are for the botanic gardens which is therefore, where that record needs to be broken if the web pages containing those records are to be updated to include today's value.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

43.1C at Cazaux in France, that's properly hot.

BTW the Harmonie model, which seems to be not too far off with a max of 34 later in London today, goes for 37C tomorrow in London and 39C in the West Midlands on Thursday.

Complete capitulation from Arpege 6z , doesn't break the June record now Wednesday or Thursday.  Some isolated 35s so will be close.

Charlwood 33.4. Hoping we can get to 35 to have four 35s in a row which would be unprecedented AFAIK.

33.7c here, which is a June record for me, might sneak a 34c as I thought. At least the DPs here are reducing, down to a miserly 18.6c now

The temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh is now up to 27.4°C and now only needs to rise by a further 0.5°C or more to beat the June record for here as I write.

Regardless of whether that happens or not though, I can confirm that the date record which was previously set at 26.1°C has now already gone.

The dewpoint map on Weatherobs (which shows official stations, even the ones that don't appear elsewhere) shows great swathes of 20C+ dewpoints across England and Wales, with slightly lower values for most of London and the M4 corridor. It's a very sultry day, and high dewpoints in the afternoon mean an uncomfortable night ahead...

I think the revised temp forecasts and regional variations show how perfect things need to be aligned for extreme heat in the UK compared to say France.  We are surrounded by cold seas and if a slight modification = big changes, especially further North.   2022 was incredible and perfect in that regard, but even so temps in the South peaked early and then in the East a bit later, around here temps dropped  5-8c around 4pm, with no front but wind changing more off the Irish sea.
