Today's maximum temperature was 21.07°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 21.42°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh with the first 20+°C maximum of this summer being recorded at all three of my local stations.

A total of only 2.8 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7:40pm BST (18:40 UTC) this evening but even that is better than yesterday's figure and actually makes today our sunniest day of this summer so far.

As I write, it has now finally started raining here at long last but that is only coming from the remnants of some earlier showers which are now in the process of gradually fizzling out with the radar maps no longer looking as impressive as they did a few hours ago.

Currently around 17°C here in Edinburgh, so it's another fairly sticky evening here in Edinburgh which is only very slightly cooler than it was at this time yesterday.

A somewhat different day here in Edinburgh for once, but the dismal start to this summer goes on with today being its worst day so far in that regard.

Today started off on a bright and sunny note but you have needed to have been up in the very early hours of this morning to have seen that as it didn't take long for it to then cloud over.

There eventually followed a spell of rain which was then followed by a number of showers with only the odd bright interval in between those showers.

That resulted in a total of 3.8 mm of rain at Edinburgh Gogarbank which is well below what a lot of others on this forum, but that was enough for today to go down as our wettest day of this summer so far and the wettest day which we've had for a very long time.

In addition to that, a total of just 1.7 hours of sunshine was recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8:40pm BST (19:40 UTC) which for this time of the year is absolutely pathetic!!

Today was also quite a bit cooler than yesterday with a maximum temperature of just 17.55°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 17.54°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which also makes today our coolest day of this summer so far.

As I write, it is even cooler than it was at this time yesterday with a temperature of around 12°C here in Edinburgh.

It's a funny wind tonight. Not particularly strong, but quite relentless. It feels like the wind you get at the seaside.

Another dull and dismal start to another day here in Edinburgh after some overnight rain.

Last night was fairly cool with an overnight minimum temperature of 10.88°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 10.38°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Currently around 13°C here in Edinburgh

EDIT:

Now, the rain is back on again which just sums up this so-called "summer" so far.

The weather in this Country is unbelievable at times. having just said elsewhere we never get thunderstorms with downpours any more we just had one! Only lasted ten minutes and didn't match "the old days" that I had referred to. Nevertheless the rainfall rate was 60mm/hr and I got 6mm in 5min, almost double the entire rainfall for April! I have to say I'm really enjoying this spell, so fresh and seeing the garden recover.

Mad!

Here in Edinburgh, there was a number of heavy showers with even the odd localised torrential downpour during this morning but even that resulted in only 1.0 mm of rain being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank where we are still continuing to struggle really badly to see any meaningful rainfall totals.

As the day wore on, the showers became much fewer in number with more in the way of brightness and even some sunny spells for a while although it has ended up becoming dull and overcast once again to end the day.

That brighter period allowed the maximum temperature to reach 17.77 °C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 17.97°C which aren't exactly spectacular for this time of year, although these temperatures are still a bit higher than what was actually forecast for today.

With that brighter period as well, a total of 3.0 hours of sunshine was recorded for today which is still very poor for this time of the year,  but enough to give us our sunniest day of this summer so far.

As I write, it's also a bit warmer than at this time yesterday with the temperature currently at around 13°C here in Edinburgh.

Another pleasant morning - the sun is shining, there's a westerly breeze, it feels fresh and comfortable. I slept like a log last night!

13.3, dew 11.8 after a low of 11.5. Yesterday's high was around average, 18.9, and there was 2.4mm of rain. There was a cracking thunderstorm yesterday evening just to the north but not a drop of rain from it!

In some ways, today was a better day than of late. It's been mostly (but not completely) dry and there was been a bit more in the way of sunshine.

In the end, a total of 5.8 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh which makes today our sunniest day of this summer so far, but it's still not been all that warm today.

Today's maximum temperatures were 17.80°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh but only 16.67°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank which isn't even the least bit warm for this time of the year any more!!🤕 That also makes today our coolest day of this summer so far.

Tonight is also cooler than of late with the temperature already down to around 11°C here in Edinburgh as I write.

Another very comfortable night for sleeping, and the coldest for some time - it was around normal for once. 13.4, dew 11.5, following a low of 10.2. Yesterday's high was 20.3 (again, around normal).

It's currently overcast with some recent drizzle, but not enough to tip the gauge.
