Today's maximum temperature was 21.07°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 21.42°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh with the first 20+°C maximum of this summer being recorded at all three of my local stations.

A total of only 2.8 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7:40pm BST (18:40 UTC) this evening but even that is better than yesterday's figure and actually makes today our sunniest day of this summer so far.

As I write, it has now finally started raining here at long last but that is only coming from the remnants of some earlier showers which are now in the process of gradually fizzling out with the radar maps no longer looking as impressive as they did a few hours ago.

Currently around 17°C here in Edinburgh, so it's another fairly sticky evening here in Edinburgh which is only very slightly cooler than it was at this time yesterday.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

A somewhat different day here in Edinburgh for once, but the dismal start to this summer goes on with today being its worst day so far in that regard.

Today started off on a bright and sunny note but you have needed to have been up in the very early hours of this morning to have seen that as it didn't take long for it to then cloud over.

There eventually followed a spell of rain which was then followed by a number of showers with only the odd bright interval in between those showers.

That resulted in a total of 3.8 mm of rain at Edinburgh Gogarbank which is well below what a lot of others on this forum, but that was enough for today to go down as our wettest day of this summer so far and the wettest day which we've had for a very long time.

In addition to that, a total of just 1.7 hours of sunshine was recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8:40pm BST (19:40 UTC) which for this time of the year is absolutely pathetic!!

Today was also quite a bit cooler than yesterday with a maximum temperature of just 17.55°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 17.54°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which also makes today our coolest day of this summer so far.

As I write, it is even cooler than it was at this time yesterday with a temperature of around 12°C here in Edinburgh.

It's a funny wind tonight. Not particularly strong, but quite relentless. It feels like the wind you get at the seaside.
