Was just outside getting the washing in and saw the occasional flake and felt the odd spot of drizzle in the wind. Now inside and we have snow and sleet falling.

FWIW the Met Office raw had sleet here this evening as of this morning's run; it's now brought the sleet forward from 7PM to 5PM. The radar shows greens and yellows, but it's dry down here for now.

4.1, dew 0.6... a bit too warm for sleet, I'd have thought, but the temperature would probably drop pretty quickly once the rain started.

Sleety rain here = 1.3c, 0.5c DP. There's been enough ice pellets over the last 20 mins or so to have left a slightly crunchy 'dusting' on paths etc.

So it's now 0.4c and -0.3c DP according to my WS and it's still a mix of ice pellets and what looks like graupel with some rain (I just cycled back from mother in laws). There's a little slushy covering formed in places.

I'm guessing it's either because the uppers are around 0c and/or there's a mild layer somewhere that the precip isn't heavy enough to cool down?

Took the dogs to Oxborough Hall for a walk, at 5 degrees C, and dry. When we got home at 2pm, there were showers of rain initially, then Ice pellets. At 2.30pm, the ice pellets had a few flakes fluttering down in the accompanying drizzle. Then the flakes became more numerous, and it turned to pure snow. We had heavy snow from 3pm to 7.00pm, and it started wet and not settling - at 3 degrees C, then dropped to 1 degree, and slush deposits started to build up on the lawn. For the last 2 hours, the temperature fell to zero and the snow started to settle everywhere, building on the lawn to 1.5 cm depth. Then at 7.00pm, it slowed and then it stopped and the temperature rose to 1 degree, and the drip drip began. Its still lying on the grass, but just for a while it was on the drive and patio, the trees and branches, and it looked amazing, though always a tad wet. However, no complaints from me, as this is the first snow seen here since 2020, and it was heavy, fluffy large flakes, some finer interludes, but amazing to watch. Totally unforecast, even when it was falling. Only later did the forecasters admit it was snowing in East Anglia. The snow was so heavy, it appeared as if there was a convergence causing the uplift, because benign echoes suddenly bubbled into deep Precipitation and sleet turned to snow readily.
