Thanks to a change in wind direction, the east coast haar which was lurking out at sea for a while has now disappeared, but it has now clouded over from the west.
This was enough in the end to scupper our chances of getting our sunniest day of the day, so we ended up with a total of 11.6 hours of sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank and not only was this not enough to beat our highest total of the year so far which was set during April, but it wasn't enough to beat March's highest total either.😡
Nevertheless, today was still our sunniest day of the month so far by a long way, and also our warmest day of this year so far with a maximum temperature of 19.0°C at Edinburgh Gpgarbank, although that won't actually be officially confirmed as today's maximum temperature until the end of the current official observation day at 09:00 UTC (10am BST) tomorrow morning.
As at 8pm this evening though, the temperature here in Edinburgh had dropped back to around 13°C.
