Came up on the train today from Notts. Light rain all the way but in the last hour or so Edinburgh has brightened up and it has become warmer and humid. My garden digital thermometer is 17.5 C. This is probably our warmest day of the year

Despite the forecast from yesterday it's been dry and warm this afternoon, bright with sunny intervals.

16.4, dew 12.4, after another early June-like high of 18.2C.

It feels as if the "summer" switch was thrown a few days ago - it'll be warm again tomorrow, although at least there's some welcome rain on the way tonight.

(It's just under 2 weeks since the last meaningful rain here and any areas of bare earth in the garden have had cracks for the past couple of days...)

Today's highest hourly temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 17.3°C and with that, I can confirm that today will go down as our warmest day of this year so far, regardless of what today's actual maximum temperature comes out as.

After this morning's rain had cleared away, it even brightened up for a little while, but it has now got dark once again and there is a line of very heavy showers just to my north and west with some fairly bright echoes showing up on the latest radar map.

As at 6pm BST (17:00 UTC) this evening, the temperature was around 16°C and even that was the warmest it had been here all year up until today.

After reading Retron’s post  above it shows you the difference a small island like the UK can have.
Heavy rain with a moderate southerly breeze set in during the early hours, this cleared briefly around breakfast but was replaced by fog. At 11am the second pulse of heavy rain arrived and this has just cleared at 19:30.
I have recorded a total of 49.6mm since midnight. A very soggy Bank holiday down here.

A much brighter start to today here in Edinburgh after some overnight showers, with some cloud still around but also occasional sunny intervals (that is just typical of course, given that most people are now going back to work today after the Coronation celebrations).

As at 8am BST (07:00 UTC) this morning, the temperature here in Edinburgh was around 12°C.

Rather cloudy, also damp after 7.4 mm of rain fell in the early hours. 13.4 C & high 90% H but winds are generally light.

Might brighten up soon but there is also the risk of some thundery stuff. The difficult Spring continues.

Just 3.4 mm of rain from the front last night. Hoping for some showers this afternoon...

Early summer continues here for now. 18.4C (which is the high so far), with a 14.7C dewpoint making it feel unseasonably humid - borderline sultry, in fact!

It's mostly cloudy, but relatively bright with it. No wind to speak of, again very reminiscent of summer.

Apart from a light shower all of the activity has been to the north, and to the west of us today. We've had very nice late spring afternoon once the sunshine broke through.

It's been rather humid with dew points around 15C and temperature once again knocking on 20C.

It's smashed through 20C here: currently 20.6C, a high of 20.8C so far.

Now to see whether the showers to the west can hold themselves together until they get here...

We're are about a degree of you but my the temperature has dropped a little now. Plenty of towering CB visible inland from here but I think the only hope of a storm now is that more organised feature to my west.

A quiet day here , no excitement like further South.
Good sunny spells and a high of 19.0, cooler now as the fresher area moves in .

And further south still here at Kent has been a quiet day with sunny breaks and partial cloud where the thundery stuff all bypassed to my north. Just still damp from last night's rain and a light passing shower just now.

Managed a peak of 16.6 C at 5.30 pm, slightly up on yesterday.

A mostly cloudy picture as dawn breaks today, 11.2C after an overnight low of 9.4C.

In the end we had 2.2mm from a single shower yesterday afternoon and nothing further during the evening - it was quite amazing on the radar watching everything swirling so as to avoid Sheppey! The rest of north Kent would have had a fair bit more rain.

As with yesterday, the models are promising several hours of showery rain today. I won't hold my breath.

Bright with some decent sunshine and broken cloud, also a warm-feeling 17.1 C since the airflow is coming from inland (NW). However, this would put me in the firing line for inland solar powered showers later on today (whereas yesterday they all bypassed me under a W airflow).

Another effortless 20 today - I popped out earlier and the (solar powered) fan in my weather station was whirring away merrily. There are some heavy showers to the west but it's been mostly sunny so far. No wind to speak of either, just the lightest of breezes from the WNW.

Early summer continues unabated here, it's noticeable how yet again the MetO (and other) models keep ninja-raising the forecast temperatures at the last minute.

20.5, dew 12.2, so at least it doesn't feel quite as muggy as it did yesterday.

Good examples last couple of days here of inland convection building up inland over the Downs and weald with the seabreeze keroing the coast in clear sunshine . A much drier month so far compared to some areas because of this
