Looks like Aberdeen is in the middle of a puddle of colder air from the sea... wish I could have some of that here!
Normally such a temperature difference between the sea and the land (10C or more) would lead to see breezes, but they've failed to set up today.
I wonder if that puddle of colder air is centred right on top of Richard's house by any chance.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
On a more serious note though, the fog lifted for a while during today, with the Sun coming out as well.
That clearly helped with our temperatures as the highest hourly reading at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 15.5°C which could even be enough to make today our warmest day of this year so far once today's actual maximum temperature is confirmed by the raw SYNOP/BUFR data for that later on this evening.
Even with that though, the really dismal total of just 54 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for the whole of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 6pm BST (17:00 UTC) this evening although even that is still a lot better than what we had during yesterday which was completely sunless here.😡
As well as that, the east coast haar has now rushed back on from off the North Sea to reduce the visibility to less than 100 yards, which is even worse than what it was first thing this morning.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 6pm BST (17:00 UTC) this evening had dropped back to around 12°C here in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
