Swanston, south Edinburgh
7.9 C which is bang on the average mean
Here in the north of Edinburgh, the average temperature during April was 7.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, but that is 0.3°C below the 1991-2020 April average for that particular station.
I know that these threads mainly focus on the CET and that there has been a lot of discussion here about higher minimum temperatures keeping the mean CET higher than what they otherwise would have been.
Howeve, that hasn't been the case here in Edinburgh where it is the overnight minimum temperatures which have actually made it slightly colder than average. Edinburgh Gogarbank had an average minimum temrperature of 3.7°C which is 0.6°C below the 1991-2020 April average for that particular station with 4 official air frosts (139.9% of the 1991-2020 April average) and a remarkable 13 ground frosts.
However, the average maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was exactly 12.0°C which was exactly bang on the 1991-2020 average, although the highest temperature of the month at Edinburgh Gogarbank was only exactly 15.0°C which is lower than anything which I can remember recording for that particular month since I first joined this forum back in the summer of 2016.
