If you went up the road from you to Woodhall you would see the difference even more as my parents say there is more snow there than here (having just been over), their car roof had a slab 3-4 inches thick on it.

Been snowing most of the day here in north notts. Showed promise of settling several times and as others have said it just keeps getting washed away with a slight temperature rise.

Yeah. Story of the last decade or more!

It's now raining moderately. This could allow the cold air to break through and there is an area of snow to the south according to NetWeather.

But the fact remains the cameras over the M62 tell the story for today at least.

I do admit, however, that I hadn't noticed that the amber warning didn't take effect until 3pm today. In amongst the many yellows that I was e-mailed about that subtly escaped me.

Indeed and people in Barnsley and Sheffield now saying "best snow of the day" etc so hopefully...
Not sure exactly what the cut off elevation for decent snow will be though.

Been a great snow event here since Nov 21 that recorded 8cm here same thing in Jan and Nov 21 8cm level.  There was 1ft drifted snow on the fences along the park area and 15cm against my car wheel from last night blizzard alike condition that pasted the posts and top of my wall toward the roof. Was very emotional when I arrived Birmingham airport at 1.45am to greeted with 4cm of snow on the metal posts top so I took a handful to hold tight and happy to feel and see the snow again since Nov 21.   Usual March solar input slowly melting but still decent cover on most parts so should freeze when dark arrive for another batch of snow in the early hours again.  Hope to get to 10cm barrier if possible as the snow on the grass must be still around 5-6cm.  Yesterday was snowing all day and if was in Dec I would had got a foot of snow by then.  Happy that the snow drought ended.

A weird graupel/snow mix here as the heavier stuff arrives. Think we’ll be too low down here for significant settling snow.

I expected your area to get +10cm.

We had a burst of moderate-heavy snow here in the city not long ago, but it's faded back to very light/intermittent now. Still, what's falling is definitely snow and not rain.

Different story back home, where it's been a 'wintry mix' for the last few hours.

Quite a heavy burst just now. It seems to be becoming a bit less marginal now as well. The temperature and dew point has dropped a little, so it should be able to settle a bit more readily.

I think it's been a really miserable day here today. Blustery wet snow falling for a lot of the day. No real accumulations. A tiny bit of slush at times. Not nice snow. Just one of those days I fear leaving the house

The forecasts may have suggested that amount of snow but I'm always sceptical about that in any easterly type snow event due to the Pennine rain shadow effect. Still, some heavier bursts recently have given a covering on grass and some roofs, even made an attempt on the pavement at one ppoint but it's slackened off now.

This snowfall has turned out to be a bust, unless you have decent altitude (150m+). The western Sheffield suburbs have predictably done very well.

Amazing. Went to the gym at Bramley which is about 130m asl and it's just drizzle with the odd flake of snow mixed in. Nothing laying or remaining apart from on roof tops in well insulated or cold houses.

Back home it's raining and only a tiny bit of snow on the grass remaining.

The snow is really pepping up in intensity here now that the low has begun to pull away and veering more to NE. Still, barely sticking at all. Has been snowing for 17 hours straight now and nothing to show for it except a foul, slushy mess on the ground. Horrible weather this.

UKV shows some tasty snow depths but mostly over high ground.
UKV is the only one you which has sufficient resolution to pick up valleys. Possibly up to 20cm here.
