First air frost of the season last night with the temperature dropping to -3C here.

Sunny day with light winds. 

Around 2C with frost still persisting as of 1pm on rooftops north facing. 

Temperature dropped belw zero at 4.30pm.

Not sure if it was a technical ice day as air temperatures in the sun did rise to 2C but frost remained on cars in shade and north facing rooftops all day.

By 3pm it was freezing again with frost & ice reforming on the patio, and in buckets/ dig bowls etc. that had been in the sun.  

After this morning's band of snow had cleared away to my south, the rest of today was fairly bright with some sunshine at times so in the end, a total of 2.2 hours of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today's highest temperature at Edinburgh appears to have peaked at 3.3°C. That isn't exactly enough to bring us even close to getting an official ice day, but this should be enough for today to go down as our coldest day of this winter so far.

As at 4pm GMT (16:00 UTC) this afternoon, the temperature here in Edinburgh was around 2°C.

At 17:30 the temperature is -2.6°. Looking at stations that are around me, that looks cold. But everything is frostbound still from last night in my back garden. It felt bitter today. Got used to the warmth over the last 8 months.

Very frosty scenes being illuminated by the almost full moon. 

A very cold and clear night here in Edinburgh with an official air frost already being recorded at Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Gogarbank which is now our 4th air frost of this winter.

This means that we have already had as many air frosts during this month than what we had during the whole of this same month last year and we're still not much more than a quarter of the way into this month (I have a feeling as well, that we've probably also had more snow during this winter than what we had during the whole of last winter).

As I write, the temperature is already down to -2°C at Edinburgh Airport (as at 7:20pm GMT (19:20 UTC) this evening and -0.67°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank (as at 7pm GMT (19:00 UTC) this evening).

A fine day with unbroken sunshine and a brief high of 5.6c following a frosty dawn low of -0.8c.  Frost has taken hold early this evening. The temperature is hovering at 0.1c currently.

Last night's low was -4.2c at 8:40am, already down to -3.7c off a high of 4.4c. Blue sky day though so feeling lovely outside for this evenings walk.
