Torro has the date record as 20.5C today, in 1999. Still going to be smashed.

We maxed in sunshine about half hour ago at 21.2; currently 20.5.

Wouldn't be surprised if 23 were approached in a SE spot where the sunshine persists.

The 31/10/2014 near-miss (for November) remains more remarkable though.

Felt very nice to see 20C here today and really nice when I went outside in the garden to be in the sun for a bit.  Last time Nuneaton reached 20#C was in Sept so that weird why it came just now when daylight already much shorter and lower sun than in Sept.  Good for heating stay off and despite the aggressive rain this month which mostly fell at nights give way to lot of sunshine during prime hours so far much better than the recent summer.

Farewell to 20C temps and see you next year.

A completely unremarkable and unintersting max of 14.4C here today the same temperature as as been recorded daily for over a week now give or take a few tenths of a degree.

The only thing that is becoming the norm is the inability to reach levels of warmth that were standard in the past

16.3C the highest this month and 16.6C at Dyce. Every single October between 1947 and 1965, bar 1952 and 1960, recorded a higher temperature than this October. Yet 2019 and 2020 recorded even lower absolute maxima.

Despite yesterday being one of the warmest October temps on record, especially for that date, the temperature appears to have maxed at 15.9C today which is the lowest maximum for the month! This in spite of the forecast warmth continuing till Thursday. Probably due to the thick cloud cover and rain with the now lower strength of the sun.

We managed 18.2 today, continuing the predominantly 18+ days for the month. Maintaining this month#2 is impressive.

I echo your appreciation for Frank`s running of this competition. Iam sure all those who take part are grateful to him.

Now the final October CET figure has been confirmed by Hadley as 12.8c we are odds on to record the first 11c+ annual CET.

If November comes in mild/warm which is looking highly likley at say around 8c December needs only a CET of 3.5c to achieve an annual CET of 11c plus. Imo i think we will exceed the 11c mark by some margin and 2022 the warmest year for the uk in recorded history.
