I have never recalled severe flooding in these areas affecting homes, I’m worried tonight could be an exception.

The radar looks horrific.

There are now two severe flood warnings in place there.

Hi all, was going to report about the amount of rain here today but then went to the door for a smoke and saw sleet falling thru Lampost. Then five mins ago looked out again and SNOW now falling fairly large flakes. Covering most surfaces rather fast. At this time mod/heavy snow

Everyone being evacuated from their homes tonight will now be getting snowed on too. What a day!

Not good.

Hope that doesn't transfer to here. I thought once it was snow falling, any further ppn would be likewise.

Temperature at Buxton has dropped to 0.2c and they now have heavy wet snow. They may be at 1,100ft but I’d expect snow to reach lower levels with the heavier bursts.

As posted elsewhere, Christoph has an "Ana" cold front with the squall at the front and most precipitation behind. The wind falling light is aiding evap cooling

So it does. Should reach me in half a hour or so, if it keeps going. Quite fast moving though so won't last long.

That triangular wedge of dodgy radar reception is still there on the West Dean radar station near Salisbury. Looking at Street View I wonder if it is the trees to the west of the radar tower growing too tall and interfering with the signal?

And yes it has just arrived. Really hammering on the west-facing windows. Interesting to see how fast the Blackbushe rain total goes up, it was reading 12mm at 22:44, and 8.2C.

You can see the rain on the webcam: https://www.blackbusheairport.co.uk/weather/

Edit: two mins later, 22:46, 13mm and 6.8C.

Another 10 mins later and down to 5.6C but still only 13mm recorded.

Squall line moved through here 15 minutes ago. Quite violent but only lasted a very short time.

Squall through here, 13mm/hr rain rate for a few minutes with some hail and strong gusts. Wind rapidly diminished and temp now falling like a stone (2.5 degree drop in 25 minutes so far)

...and a further 3 degrees in the next 15 minutes!

Getting quite windy here, and I've had a couple of power dips, leaving the lights a bit dimmer than they were beforehand.
