Only 12 mm here but the problems will be with the amounts on the hills and the run off into the various rivers. River Wharfe in Collingham is about to break it's banks and it will only get worse today.

Surprisingly there don't seem to be any flood warnings in force for Bala so maybe that is normal winter levels?

The snow warning for parts of the city and much of eastern Scotland has now been removed and for areas just to the north been replaced with a rainfall warning.

Cold, wet and miserable. Snow to the south, to the east and north. It sums up the last 8 years or so of winters here nicely.

(OT) I have forgot the last time I had a classic snow shower from a northerly. Any weather from the north seems to have a westerly element to it a straight Northerly or NE flow is more rare then Easterlys now 😨

Just a bit too early - this at 12.48

Town of Bala

The rainfall is forecast to continue for most of the day and conditions are expected to deteriorate. River levels at Bala are rising and are expected to do so until tomorrow . River levels are above normal but flooding of property is not expected at the moment. Lake levels at Llyn Tegid are rising and are expected to do so for the next 12 hours. Llyn Tegid is expected to remain high level for at least the next 24 hours. Flood defences are now in operation and the situation on site is being constantly monitored. Flood defences are now in operation and the situation on site is being monitored. There is a significant risk of localised flooding problems from surface water

85 warnings and 240 alerts, and no doubt rising. You can't see anything of England and Wales N of the M4 for red triangles!

The southerly gale is starting to kick in at my end, thus the shitty Autumn continues. However, thankfully not that much in the way of rain with 2.0 mm so far today but there's still the squally stuff to come later tonight.

Bored of all this, roll on Spring.

Pretty horrendous situation developing now close to the River Mersey in south Manchester - East Didsbury, Northenden areas.

I have never recalled severe flooding in these areas affecting homes, I’m worried tonight could be an exception.

The radar looks horrific.

It will be interesting to see whether this turns properly to snow overnight, and whether there isa ny accumulation. The ground is more then sodden at the moment, but if it remains as heavy as the rain has been today, I can't see some snow having much of a problem...

ca 1972 when we were living in Darley Avenue, Manchester, close to the Mersey it was overtopping the flood banks in places and especially running a foot or more deep across the Northenden Road. But that was after a summer thunderstorm dumped a swift 4" of rain on the Peak District one night.

Stupidly went for a short drive into the country side only 1-2k from home to asses road conditions for a run early morning. Found myself in 1-2feet of water and quickly finding escape to safety increasinly difficult.

Im nearly 40 and ive never seen it like this before.... weve had easily 100mm of rain over the last 24 hrs...
