As it was raining at the time of this report, the above 24 hour totals could end up being even higher than what I have reported.

Since we haven't even got to the end of the first week of this month yet, we can probably safely say now that this month will go down as being wetter than average in the end with the drier than average November which we had, now already looking like a very distant memory as a result.

The second time in three months that more than 50% of the average monthly rainfall has been reached by the 5th and the second time in three months I have set a new daily record

39.0mm monthly total with 31.8mm of that falling on Friday. That was actually 0.2mm more than fell during November which certainly didn't feel like a dry month due to an inordinate amount of SE'ly dampness which oddly failed to produce a daily total of more than 5mm.

Previous wettest December day in my records was 28.4mm on 13th December 2008.

34.3mm so far this month, and at a third of the way through the month we have had nearly half the LTA rainfall for December.  It looks as though the drenching will continue for the next couple of weeks.

It has been ridiculously wet here so far this month. The persistence of the rain due to the largely easterly muck has been remarkable, and it still continues.

My total is already 103mm, which is significantly above the long term average for the entire month.

Reckon we've got a good chance of hitting the metre at gogarbank, need less rain in the rest of the month than we've had so far...

Can't see real long-term records (is gogarbank newish?) but we nearly got there in 2012 with 998mm according to this - dunno how reliable it is though, those min temps look hooky :-)
