Same old rubbish for my area UKV has it even further south sadly my prediction in the snow amount thread will prove to be right 😴😴😤

Would rather it be mild nothing worse then seeing snow reports close by as I'm in no mans land yet again 😈😈

Every potential avenue for snow to fall here has been removed one by one, from the initial low (kept too far south) to the snowy slider scenario (to far to the SW/S) to the major low disrupting just to our west sending snowy fronts over us (transient snow before SW'lies turn everything warmer as the low doesn't slide)

After disappointing attempts at cold & snow over the Xmas period into Jan, this was 'the great white hope' of February, which looks to be a brief snap of 5 or so days, with only a select few areas getting any sort of snowfall worth talking about, before it all goes TU.

In the meantime, I've got 5 days of frustration to look forward to, watching on the radar as convective activity bubbles up and heads my way, only to fizzle about 30-40 miles east of here.

It was quite nice today. It got up to 9°C, which coupled with light winds and the strengthening February sun, it wasn't bad at all. To be honest, I just want this cold spell over and done with as soon as possible. I've completely gone off winter now and just want something warmer and brighter to start showing it's face.

I'd like a prolonged spell of winter to replace the perma-autumn. You know... cos it's winter, like.

It’s been 9-11c here for what seems ages, add on the warm sunshine when we get it, it feels almost warm.

I wouldn’t right off this season yet, my gut tells me winter hasn’t finished with any of us yet.

It shows what a difference the weather can be across the country as a whole. There really hasn't been many double figure days this winter up here - maybe five or six since 1 December at my location, and all of those were either wet, cloudy or windy. This was the first day that felt positively spring-like with sunshine and light winds.

And for the most part, I agree. I get a feeling this is going to be one of those tedious years where winter drags on well into March. It's been plenty cold and snowy enough for me so far, and I'm more than ready to see the back of it.

Plenty of rain on an easterly here this morning, it's had no trouble at all crossing the Pennines. In fact the heaviest bursts have been on this side of the hills. But if it was a snow situation that wouldn't happen and the weather would suddenly remember that the Pennines exist and it would just break up and all I'd get would be a few flurries. This has happened many times, rain on an easterly no problem, snow on an easterly is much more difficult.

I'd have to hibernate to save myself from transforming in to Ricard.

It's just shite isn't it we look for an easterly all winter , finally get one and the charts look great 850s look great . But it looks like producing such a pathetic amount of snow. Just a tiny slither of the east will see any. There are not enough swear words the English language.

Cold Marches have often been followed by hot Julys - 2018, 2013, 2006...

Yeah another epic let down. Not sure what's worse this or cold rain.

Most frustrating Winter I can remember.

How long is it since you had 4cm of snow plus on the ground IMBY?

8 years and counting here.

True, it certainly seems to be a trend in recent years. Even March 1995 also had some fairly wintry episodes from what I'm aware.

It's exactly the same story here in Edinburgh (that is, in the north of Edinburgh at least).

Here, it is still refusing to stop raining just now and the temperature is still refusing to drop and even though this was when it was supposed to start getting colder here, the temperatures if anything, have actually gone up slightly during the night.

In addition to that, we still haven't had any recorded sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank during this month so far.

Yesterday was our 5th completely sunless day in a row and as it is still overcast, our latest permacast hell has now gone into day 6 as our latest frost-free horror show goes on.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Like I mentioned before, this does look like easterlies of old - with Kent and Essex seeing significant snow while everywhere else remains mostly dry. Exactly like 1986 & 1987.

It’s why I’ve always seen easterlies as massively overrated. They rarely deliver significant widespread snow.

I'm not looking forward to see the SE of England possibly get plastered with snow over this weekend, courtesy of Storm Darcy whilst we continue to be subjected with yet more, vile easterly muck in this part of the world..
