Amazing that parts of NE England have had more rain in the last 48hrs than the whole Spring!

True, but it's just typical of our weather that this has to happen when we have just gone into our so-called "summer" (we have badly needed the rain, but predominately dry weather (which is also hot and sunny) is part of what makes up a decent summer after all).

11.6 mm so far this month. Just about barely enough to at least halt any further browning of my lawn.

Despite being almost unrelentingly vile, it's not been particularly wet with 21.0mm so far. Just endlessly damp, cold, drizzly and grey.

I see Dyce recorded 5mm in an hour yesterday but there was nothing like that here or at the SEPA stations at Westhill or Nigg. Seems like an unrepresentative location to have the official weather station as always seems to be much wetter than the rest of the city, particularly prone to picking up heavy downpours that my area in particular always seems to avoid.

I think there was a bit of a rain shadow in evidence this last week. Any rain was generally light and patchy in this neck of the woods.

Reminded me of a disappointing snow event.

I measured 6.5mm in two hours yesterday with a total for the month now at a wetter than average (for this stage of the month) 31mm. Given the water situation and rainfall this year it is probably a good thing (even if it is not very pleasant).

Not sure how much we’ve had here, but whilst enough to wet the garden beds and green up the lawn, it’s not been enough to recharge soil moisture. Rain is still soaking away. I walked in the park yesterday evening and the soil surface was dry on top, with cracks still showing. And that’s clay too.

Still just 8mm for the month here. Today’s showers all skirted past with only a couple of minutes of very light rain.

Water butt only about a quarter filled from the week’s showers.

I'm at 11.1mm now after 0.3mm falling about an hour ago. Apparently there was thunder, but I was oblivious as I was watching a video with headphones in!

Likewise we seem to keep missing the big showers. Yesterday a storm went through Eversley and missed us by less than a mile. All my stats at my new website for my weather station: http://arborfield.uk.ms/weather/
