The rainfall total here for the month has been slowly increasing, and is now at 25.9mm. The hit-and-miss delivery of convective rainfall was illustrated perfectly yesterday when this location had zero rainfall while heavy storms passed to the north and south of here, giving rainfall amounts (recorded on PWSs in the Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells areas) of up to 10mm.

10mm overnight which has more than doubled the monthly total to 19mm and it is still raining. Very welcome for the parched garden.

Watching this to see will it? or won't it? The garden could do with a soaking as it's so dry.

On the Met Office site The Dorset Snowsport Centre (nearest to me) gives me an 80/90% chance of rain today.

Beginning in maybe 20 minutes at 40% then increasing 90% till 6pm with a reduction to 50% between 1pm and 2pm (to recuperate?). Sometimes these predictions can be accurate but they're not infallible.

Frustrating.

Sods Law predicts it will tip down later now I've planned a trip with a friend to Chesil later to restock the fridge with fresh fish.

Amazing, bang on 10am light rain began falling. Congratulations Met Office.

Who'd have believed it?

Next, will it be meaningful rain?

The rain finally stopping after 18.5 hours of continuous precipitation certainly made up for the lack of rain in the last three months, 36.3mm from this event.

Total so far today : 5.7mm

Total for month : 49.8mm

The rain has pulled away from here to the west, and I can see blue skies coming from the east.

We had near continuous rain from 1am until 2.30pm, mostly light-moderate, but a bit heavier towards the end. Total rainfall from the event, 19.5mm. That brings the monthly total up to 41.4mm, of which 30.3mm has fallen since Monday.
