They are never going to be balanced when it comes to this. The RWM remain desperate to get everything going again when clearly our infection rate is far to high.

I don't know the politics of this Dr Munro, nor his motives for making such an intervention.

But the article smacks of following the playbook of the right-wing populism espoused by figures like Cummings.

It attempts to weave a narrative of 'leftism' and 'socialism' and their linked organisations like unions, as a preserve of the 'liberal middle classes', who the narrative seeks to portray as an enemy of the [lower] working classes and similar demographic groups, with their onerous regulations, love of the 'corporate, nation-destroying EU', and unquestioning support for immigrants who take their jobs, and lazy, feckless benefits scroungers pocketing more money than them. Not to mention making them pay more for everything with their climate change lies designed to control us all.

It's all just crocodile tears. Manipulation by a right-wing who view regulations that protect consumers, workers and the environment as blocking the financial elite hoovering up an even greater proportion of productive income - and being able to keep more of it through low taxation levels and inadequate anti-tax avoidance laws.

This right wing has sought to replace what had been the pillars of working class society - communities and unions - with nationalist tribalism and sneering hate towards 'liberal middle classes'.

Even this Government should have worked out a coherent strategy by then. Remember we are always having to "live with" diseases including the common cold and to an extent flu with no vaccine.

I'm sure the vaccine will work for a while at least, but the problem will be mass production and distribution which will take time and by the end of the year, Covid would have done plenty of damage

The Kawasaki type illness in children is a concern. So far the virus hasn't triggered immune system overreaction in most young people, which is what the Spanish Flu did

If it mutates to do this, then we are in trouble, but it wouldn't make sense for the virus to start killing its hosts, so most viruses mutate to a weaker form

Yes. Or more simply put the meme is 'weak ("hysterical") libruls V tough guy populists'.

You see it in action all the time with MM and four. Thing is, both of them are avoiding the virus in the same way as all of us - so they'll spouting hypocritical bollox (there's a thing...)..

I think lung scarring in young people is also a concern. Because the virus is new there could well be other long term issues arising from it.

Another pointless and inaccurate sound bite.  Your life is not being 'micro-managed'; you've had certain modest restrictions put in place to protect people from a nasty virus with the potential to kill large numbers of people.

Also, it wasn't by 'government dictat' (sic); it was via a law passed by Parliament.

According to unconfirmed social media reports, he is a Tory activist

But I agree with your comments. We have followed America into the Culture wars where observable truths no longer matter. "libtards" are the "enemy within"

I used to laugh at Duane (Charmhills) and just assumed he was a bit thick, but sadly he is now the mainstream of working class opinion

No coincidence that Murdoch has a huge control over the media in both the US and UK

If in doubt blame big bad Uncle Rupert

He is a very old man on his last legs now Beast and I don't think you can blame him for the way the ordinary Joe thinks. Here is a hint - the ordinary Joe is not obsessed with the same things most left wingers are, even though that might come as a massive shock to the average Momentum supporter. It is a truism, that there are those on the left who have to find someone or something to blame when they run into the fact that most people don't actually have a leftist worldview.

It's fees are actually £42500 per annum, not per term, and Eton College is a Grade 1 listed building which probably presents logistical problems with regards effecting even the smallest of structural changes.  Oh and psycho has an h in it. Apart from that a reasonable view to take, I guess.

Beat me too it! That really is a pathetic contribution which suggests that the author missed out on some much-needed education and lacks much awareness of how the world works. £127,500 per annum for school fees???? How truly imbecilic.

Looking better Gavin. I am wondering if we will manage to achieve those kind of figures which aren't nirvana still, but a little more 'comfortable' than what we are reporting just now. Zero is of course best but wonder if these are the kind of values where a greater relaxation is possible, but the 2m rule should still apply away from your home. Can't see that ending anytime soon.

Coronavirus: Dozens flout lockdown rules for Telford 'rave'

Quote

A group of about 70 people have gathered in a park for a "rave" - flouting lockdown rules and telling police they were "sick of self-isolation". West Mercia Police said a DJ had set up for the party at Granville Country Park in Telford, Shropshire, on Saturday. "We have worked so hard and sacrificed so much and this group decide it doesn't apply," one officer said.

"I'm shocked that people would care so little," they added. Police dispersed the group from the Donnington park at about 20:15 BST.

Officers said they "do not fine unless there is no other action open". They added: "We asked the group to disperse, and they did. "We would ask anyone who is thinking of organising one of these events to think of the bigger picture."

What I don't understand why complicate things by having more than one year return , why not just  year 6 ? ( last year at primary )

Sick of Self Isolation? The poor dears, I am sure to live in the Telford area is a dream compared to some inner cities.
