Been for a long walk round south Manchester today. 

Most people being very courteous and socially distancing, a fair number of people sunbathing etc but always in small groups and in isolation.

Always warms my cockles to see all the rainbows in windows and chalked out by kids on footpaths and doorsteps. Love it. 

Need to be careful not to assume everything happening on Twitter is representative of the entire population. It’s easy to get carried away with anecdotes from social media. 

Not saying everything is rosy, but I firmly believe that most people are fairly decent out there. 

Not so good here i’m afraid. I’ve just been for a walk in my local woods / lake. Next to a certain part of the lake there is a clearing with a kind of sandy ‘beach’ area. 

 Normally it’s empty, but today there was some kind of party going on with approx 40 youths aged 16-20ish, drinking, smoking, no social distancing. I despair - but how to complain? The local police have stopped doing anything.

This is the issue I'm now seeing. As an increasing number of people flout the lockdown, what can the police realistically do? What can HMG really do? You can't stand up to a group that's too large. If this goes on the people will decide when the "lockdown" ends instead.

The only alternative is you start following the Chinese apporach and start barricading people in their houses...

Interesting to see the cars graph has continued showing a marked upward trend. From a low of around 40% during the working week - we're now back to 50%. While that 10% doesn't sound like much (compared to normal), it's a 25% increase in relative terms. Or, in other words, there are 25% more cars on the roads during the week now than there were for the early part of the lockdown.

Not sure this is that much of a concern where we are with this. There may be bigger fish to fry to keep infection down. The main reason for restricting travel from what I recall on these threads was to not move from a highly infected area to a lower one, to not overload a smaller health authority with holiday visitors and to keep the RTA's  to a minimum. All to protect the NHS which now seems to be coping well. A lot of these journeys, especially at the weekend, may be local people who have learnt workrounds that are transmission safe. Like dropping off shopping, maybe birthday cards or a strimmer etc. These can all be done with social distancing the same as any other deliveriesand there is no lower transmission risk than the inside of your car.

I don’t think over 65’s and key workers are lumped together.  l’m thinking Gavin works out the percentages himself and he means Pillar 2, which includes everyone other than those in hospitals.  I’m not sure whether care homes come under pillar 1 or 2.

I question the percentages of positive cases as well because the number tested today will not relate to the results published today, due to the time lag. Apparently it takes up to 7 days for some results to come back.

I would support all healthcare provision, including dentistry, opticians, mental heath etc to open as normal. But if people are scared to go into hospital or see their GP, there isn't much you can do other than public messaging

I think you are confusing radicalised with being fed up with remainers and the hard left. We have had enough of their unaccepting behaviour. We are fed up to the back teeth with them. Their main mouthpiece has been the BBC, which walks hand in hand with the Guardian, the BBC bias for remainers in Brexit was astonishing, totally unacceptable. For that, the BBC will never be forgotten and a full review with changes can't come quick enough in certain areas. I quote them on virus stuff, but politically I don't trust them. Since the election their presenters have undergone a personality transplant. The sly devils are muted to keep hold of their jobs, but you can sense the frustration in them. They could not stop themselves argueueing with leavers up to the election.
