No lower !
Hoping for a nice downward adjustment. It's been warmish but nowhere near May 2017 or 18 level

I’ve just posted on the MO thread, that for my location, this year seems to be tracking 2019 as far as Spring goes, but 2018 was also very much the same to this point.  Very dry and warm with dips in temp at the beginning of months.  Does anyone have any comparison charts?

Here is some food for thought for the summer.

Looking at the stats for Spring this year will be the sunniest on record. If we look at rainfall this Spring is likely to be the 6th driest on record for the EWP series. Also likely to be the 6th warmest Spring on record for the CET series.

I have looked at the top 20 Springs for sun, rain and warmth since 1929 (I picked that year because the sunshine data only goes back to 1929).

We see that there are six years since 1929 which all fell into the top 20 for sun, rain and warmth. A further 8 matched two of the three parameters (4 matching sun and rain, 3 matching sun and temperature and 1 matching rain and temperature.

If we look at the summer CET for those years we find that for years with two matches the CET is generally close to average, although August looks very poor (the data is skewed slightly by having one very warm year - 1995 which has the record August CET).

If we look at the summer CET for those years with 3 matches we see a similar picture for June and July, generally around average. However, August looks better with three very warm years (but that is still only 50% of the sample).

So my gut feel is that we should not expect a particular warm summer this year. Maybe August is the best chance of a warm month. But otherwise the odds are on a fairly average and perhaps rather boring summer. Of course the weather was bound to change as the lockdown is lifted!

Considering the first half here was about 2C lower than average it's a surprise we are now up to 10.5 (+0.4C)
Still getting cool nights it won't go up much more

Thanks GW!  That’s interesting but disappointing as I was looking for a record breaking summer, although sunny and low 20’s would be more useable!

Sorry, I have now deleted my comment accordingly and I don't think that I will ever post anything on these CET threads again as I never somehow, manage to get anything right here whereas I don't seem to have that issue on very many of the other threads on these forums.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Congrats to the snows!

I was 0.5 out which wasn’t as bad as I thought earlier in the month.

12th May 2020 had a CET minimum of -0.9C

That is cold for the time of the year and I think it maybe the lowest  daily CET minimum recorded during May since 3rd May 1967.

Yes.  It is good to see that even in a rapidly warming climate its still possible to attain freakish low daily minimums and cold maximums. The trend overall though is inexorably in the other direction.
