Strangely still above freezing here despite snow cover and clear skies. Forecast shows the temp holding up till the early hours and then plummeting.

By the way, my PWS says today was the second wettest day of the last year.  17.7mm of rain today and 4.2mm yesterday - if only none of that 21.9mm's worth of snowmelt hadn't melted during the time it was snowing, we would have 9 inches of snow (still got a very decent covering!)

Here in North Northumberland the car thermometer increased from -4 to -1 in the space of 2 miles, no change in altitude, totally clear skies, light snow cover, reason - it's a west wind, sheltered places are soooo much colder, hoping for a nice southerly later in the night. If I'd driven another 5 miles SE I'd have hit 10cm of snow rather than our 1cm, again same altitude but nearer the coast and the other side of a hill!

-6.8C here at 5.33 this morning. Would have gone a little lower were it not for the cloud sheet coming in from the west. Now up to a balmy -5.8C!

A crystal clear sky this morning giving some low temperatures, I've still got snow on my station so I'm not sure if it's reading of -4C is correct because in the car just now it read -8c.

Clear skies and deep snow cover, should be a nice chilly one!

Meanwhile back on Sheppey it was zero when I got home, it's now -2C.

EDIT: Farnborough and Odiham are reporting -8C, Benson -10C.

Here in Edinburgh, the temperature had got down to -6°C at Edinburgh Airport at 1am this morning. After that though, it then clouded over with the wind picking up as well. This scuppered our chances of getting any lower temperatures than that as the temperatures then proceeded to shoot up and end up above freezing by the time that I got up this morning.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

My weather station recorded a low of -6.3°C this morning, making the lowest February temperature since 2012. It narrowly beats the -6.2°C recorded during the Beast from the East last year.

Only made it down to -4.9C last night and -6.4C as a low for this cold spell. Not impressive at all given that we used to be able to manage these sort of temperatures without lying snow.

However, this winter has now seen three mins of -5C as did last winter, during December and January. This is the same as was recorded in total during the six winters from 11/12 to 16/17 so at least we're making some progress back to normal with that, if not with the snow.
