Some great looking wintry charts for those living East off the Pennines and Central/Southern areas on the 06z. IMBY rarely does well out of these set ups but at least it’ll be cold and frosty.

 

Could be colder in the medium term than the 0Z but less cold later as the high sinks, versus the textbook retrogression shown in the 0Z.

Anyway the general pattern is (hopefully) firming up on something decent, with a snowy depression dropping south next week and ushering in an easterly of some kind.

The high sinks south a bit but it would be pretty cold under that HP with -8C 850s for many. 

 

Looks like we've got some Greenland high action As well post day 10 again plus huge snow event day 10. Bank.

Very cold air avoids UK and dives into Europe.  This is OK for the moment.  Plenty of time for re-alignment.  Good to see some proper deep cold being injected into the setup.  Looking forward to the runs later to see how this pans out on that run.

Agreed, prob in the top 10 best runs ive seen.  Loading Europe with Cold air really helps create some stella charts to the end of FI.

Maxima of -6C and minima of -14C down the spine of the country. Michael Gove did warn us winter is coming

Whatever actually happens on the ground, is the 06Z GFS this morning one for the scrapbook?
The depth of cold coming in from both directions at 240 is astonishing. Where they clash you’d expect a significant snowfall.
