A mixture of sleety rain and wet snow here so far (more the former). Hoping to see some proper flakes come the evening.

Snow during the night has left a slushy deposit. This afternoon and evening should be interesting hopefully.

Sleet has turned to snow in Manchester City Centre.

Edit - back to sleet again. Gonna be one of those days.

Now lying snow from Manchester to Merseyside. Some lying hail giving the impression of winter, but that's the best we have.

I heard a traffic report that where the M58 meets the M6 was like an ice rink, with vehicles sliding all over the place, and an accident causing major tailbacks

Yes, there’s a radar with an option for precipitation type.  The link’s always at the top of the page Tally.

Conditions were quite poor on my way into work in Warrington today. Very heavy hail just before 8am followed by predominantly rainy sleet causing a layer of white slush on the roads. Urgh

First proper snowfall of the winter here in Lenzie. Heavy showers over the last hour or so and a few inches now on the ground.

Eratic sleet snow shower. Very wet. Strong echoes out west, hoping that might translate to a more moderate sustaineed snow shower

I assume you mean “NO lying snow”?

Clear blue skies here for once, and untreated roads are fairly lethal after the overnight rain. Running across the station car park to catch my train turned into a brief Olympic speed-skating impression (styled it out of course 😉)

Overcast looking dark looking west - it's coming! May not be snow but looks like a slushy deposit over Dartmoor!?

I anticipate a fall in temperature and any rain to turn to sleet or snow - but doubt there will be any accumulations or any slushy deposit will see - but either way precipitation is expected within the next 10 mins:

Eldest daugher called me from school [tut! tut!] to say it's snowing really heavily in St Helens and sticking.

I can see the PPN on the radar, but unfortunately it looks like it'll pass within the next half hour, and there's nothing showing behind it in the Irish Sea.

The PPN blob looks like it's coming in on a straight westerly, so Manchester might get some before midday.
