I agree with the above.

I am normally going through this forum anyway to give my usual updates on other threads at certain times of the day so that when it comes it to around the time for the day's CET figures to be updated, I always look here first which I am dealing with those other threads.

That in turn saves me from going directly to the Hadley website to get the day's values if Arty's update is already here on this thread.

Occasionally, Arty might be late with that and so, on the odd occasion, I will find that Hadley will have updated before Arty's update appears there, but I always know that this update will be coming here and so rather than post what I find here as the latest values, I always just let Arty give those updates himself.

Latest output suggests December will finish as an average month with a CET of around 5C. A cold first half and a warm second half.

My current CET estimate to the 15th is 3.60C which is 0.33C lower than Hadley's 3.93C.

Thanks GW!

Talk on the MOD That it’s a pity December could end up average despite the recent cold but I think they’re forgetting that monthly averages give no indication of peaks and troughs.  I’d be happy if it ends a little below average though!

Another hard frost last night here is central England. SoI really don't think we can end up with an above average CET for December, whatever next week does.

I disagree. The latest output is looking milder than it did a few days ago. Some very mild nights to come in next week or so. Today the CET will be slightly below average again but after that every day for the rest of the month is likely to be between 2C and 6C above average. We may find it does not end up quite as warm as this but I still think there is a good chance the CET will finish at 5C or above. Current estimate is 5.24C.

My calculations have the CET at 3.67C to the 20th.

I am still expecting the CET to finish above 5C although the numbers have dropped a little over the past couple of days. 5.09C is the latest estimate. It could end up below 5C if the post Christmas period is a little colder than currently expected. But equally this is being partly compensated by an increasingly warm signal as we head towards the new year.

It looks like Lanky is odds on favourite for this year's overall winner then. It'd take quite a big upset to change that now.
