I mentioned earlier that the rain radar maps were appearing to show the rain clearing away from here to the south-east, and it did briefly stop raining here for a while. However, those hopes have now been very quickly dashed as yet another finger of rain coming in from the SW has brought that rain back in towards us. Consequently, it is raining fairly heavily here once again as I write. This brief drier period did result in the rainfall totals for each hour being much smaller (down to 0.2 mm for each hour), but it wasn't enough to prevent something being recorded during that hour and this means that there has been some rainfall recorded at both Edinburgh Gogarbank and the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh during every single hour from 8am this morning onwards, which means that you have to go all the way back to 7am to find our last completely dry hour. This has now brought today's total so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank to 10.2 mm (which is actually more than what the total for this entire month of November so far at the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh was going into the beginning of this week) and since it is still raining just now, even that isn't likely to be the final total for today.
EDIT:
We do finally, have a completely dry hour between 7pm and 8pm at Edinburgh Gogarbank, but that is unlikely to be the case for the next hour, and the pressure is falling once again (now down to 979.4mb at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8pm). I also forgot to add that today's total so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 8pm is even higher at 11.6 mm, and there has been no completely dry hour there during this evening so far. Having said that, this should come as no surprise anyway since the pressure is very low just now and even in our earliest stages of education, we are taught that low pressure will usually mean rain.
