Ah, come on Matty, that's a bit unfair. It's great when they lose.

Cech completes his move to Arsenal, an excellent signing IMO .

Wenger just needs a couple more and they could be challenging

Sky Sports reporting we've signed Firmino.

I'll believe it when I see it, but that would be friggin fantastic - even if he does look like a lesbian.

Get Bacca, Clyne & Kovacic (or, failing that, Illaramendi) and I'll be happy, pretty confident for next season.

Oh, should add... Sterling deffo off to Citeh. If we can get £50m then I'm cool with that. Would have loved him to stay & develop into the world class player he could be, but his temperament is dubious - and his agent is a total cockroach.

£50m for Sterling. A bog-standard run of the mill striker. Football is a joke.

He's not a striker, but yes £50m is daft. We'll take the dirty sheik's dirty petro-cash though.

Firmino deal done. Bit more costly than I think it's worth but good player. Get Bocca in now, but the manc scum are reportedly 'doing a spurs' and suddenly interested in our targets.

A few of my 'pool mates arent exacly dancing with joy over the signing of Fimino , they are even more concerned that the cash from any Sterling sale will be blown

More a reflection of my lack of interest in football outside of the league my own club are in really.

Back when I was a kid, even into my early 20s, I could tell you who any player you'd care to name played for. Naturally there wasn't the saturation of football on TV that we have now, but what was on I watched religiously, be it foreign or English, international or domestic. Never missed MoTD. Ever.

For  whatever reason - well many reasons really, many linked to the way money has ruined the game - that enthusiasm is long dead. I don't think I've sat and watched an entire episode of MoTD for probably getting on for 10 years or so. The last time I watched it regularly was when Des was in the hot seat. I don't watch any of the Prem live on TV unless I happen upon it, or I'm in a pub where it's on, and even then it's without any real interest.

If you named me 20 less well known players from the Prem I might get 5 of the clubs they play at right at best, so I'm not surprised I've not heard of someone from outside.

He could be as well rated at Messi for all I know.

Panini helped!

(PS - my first Panini stickerbook had Bristol City in the 1st Division, when it was the top division. Showing my age there!)

Figurini Panini was amazing! The inside of my wardrobe double doors in my bedroom was absolutely plastered in swaps I couldn't get rid of because everyone else had loads of them as well.

For some reason I clearly remember I had quite a few of Jimmy Rimmer

Just wasn't funny back then...

Yep, a random Brazilian signing. We did that a while back.

In fact it seems the Dippers are one season behind us in terms of spunking cash on average players.

Considering where they were two years ago, I think they have lost their way a bit. Gerrard leaving is as bigger blow as you are likely to get

Last summer we did a Sperms and took on some gambles. Most didn't work. But the main thing was, we lost to injury one of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League, whilst replacing another 'one of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League' with a last minute panic-buy that the world & his dog could see was a rubbish fit for our system.

We're trying to address the striker problem properly this time. It's unlikely Sturridge will miss anything like so many games, and we're looking at bringing in another striker who can play in our style. Carlos Bacca would do.

I think you're underestimating Firmino; I just hope opposition managers do too.

I still have major concerns over Rodgers, though. He seems to stumble on a set-up that works, then plays it over & over (regardless of the strengths/weaknesses of the opposition) until we come unstuck, then he rips the blueprint up and tries something else, then something else until he stumbles on another system that works.
