A warm start to the month although today's CET will be closer to average. It should stay quite warm until the 9th after which temperatures look like returning to average or a little below. Even so the very warm start means that even by the 19th the mean could still be about 1C above the 1971-2000 average.

Here is the full list of predictons for January. There are 68 in total. A couple of the entries came in via PM which is absolutely fine.

As usual there is a very wide spread for the first month of the year although most people have gone for an above average month. Certainly a very warm start but will we still be above average by the end?

It is indeed. He popped up from nowhere to make a prediction. I can't recall if he has entered the competition before or not - I would have to go back through my records but he certainly has not done so for a long time.
