The warm-up is showing quite nicely on the 7-day trend again

It would be quite a turn-up to get mid 20s one weekend, then single figures the next (followed by snow) then mid 20s again for the bank holiday. American-style spring.

Actually quite decent model agreement on a week or more of high pressure.

My weather app on my phone is now showing a high of 4C for Monday. That's ridiculous for the last day of April.

Really good to have 12z UKMO on board with the high pressure for later in the week

3C forecast for Chichester at 1000 Monday, heavy rain, AND 43 mph gusts. Even if we don't get any snow disruption, there will be trees down.

Good news from 00z ECM it shows our weather turning settled and increasingly warmer

Not in the internet era but in June 1975 temps were pushing 80F just a week after the famous snow. And that was also the time of the original EU referendum. It must have been quite a week!

Is it really a hot spell on the way though? The weather.com app suggests temperatures of 18-19C next Sat/Sun here, which is nice, but no heatwave.

If this morning's ECM comes off we will be looking at mid 20s in the south.

Actually the t2m data from the ECM model suggest temperatures in the range that Nick states on Saturday/Sunday. Maybe no heatwave but much better than the next few days (especially in the south).

We could be in for a big warm up next weekend with temps in most parts back above average I'd say high teens to mid 20's depending on your location

I remember that!  My eldest was a toddler and we were walking to the polling station when the snow came hard and fast and I had to carry him to shelter him from it.

Next weekend looks very nice indeed with temps quite widely in the high teens to low 20s maybe the mid 20s in the London area

I'd welcome a hot spell next weekend, particularly as it's a Bank Holiday. Not only that, but early May hot spells seem to sometimes herald a good summer; see 1976, 1995, and 2006. Will this be the first year to break the 'poor summers for years ending in 8' jinx?
