It's swings and roundabout though isn't it? Just four games in and there's a sense of optimism at Elland Road. Lose tomorrow and it'll be sackcloth and ashes.
Should be the highest Football League crowd of the season at ER tomorrow (26,000 or so) and we've already sold more tickets than that for the Sheffield game in a fortnight. We've opened the 7,000 seater Upper tier of the East Stand for the purpose.
But we've barely sold a ticket for the Preston game on the Tuesday after that. People's money only stretches so far, even if we seem generally to be bucking the trend of dwindling crowds generally at the moment. As an example in League One Swansea brought 2,750 fans up. Two years later in the Championship they've sold under 1,000.
