The ens temp graphs from GFS stay refreshingly close to norm; only in the last day or two of August do op and control take off as outliers from the main pack - and as for ECM quite boringly average from all members. Don't bet the farm yet.

I see now hints of warmer weather slowly rising from end of the weekend to September.  I see some very cool 850's t hit Nicosia on last day of August which was not there on 00z runs show possible cooler weather in E Med and warmer to hotter here by September. 

Sadly we need to bypass the anti summer/heat haters/rain lovers protesters on the M25 today as they are on the gantry with their banners up.  Lot of hatred and dimissing toward GFS on 06z. never seen this outrage before toward a model.

If we need rain can we do Nicosia type that come with big storms, hail, heavy proper rain that we should be looking for on the models but there no sign of it. 

Today here so far 28.5C still warm but no heatwave threshold for me as i set it at 30C plus. 

Really? The 850s head up to the teens but the 2m temperatures only give a couple of days of 27-28 max in the south then back to the lower 20s.

EDIT: 25 here tomorrow and 27 on Tuesday going by the 12z GFS, so there may well be a couple more days to eke out yet. After that though it looks like a cold front will finally make it through - all the others so far have been feeble affairs, or have undergone frontolysis as they're passing.

Should be finally gone by Wednesday , hopefully for good this year . 🤗

The cooler duration of 4C on the 12z ensembles had been delayed and dowgraded from a 5-6 days to 2-3 days before rising back to average so temperatures likely to be low 20's to mid 20s.  Today was 28.8C under 11C 850s so down to 4C mean 22-23C here.  Will warm up at the end of the month for September possible heatwave but not showing at the range yet.

I have loved this summer and you do get used to the heat, 21c is going to feel chilly.

Agree completely. However, I'd like to see some mobility as we head into the autumn, with active weather fronts reaching the south east. Like thunder and snow, it also seems there has been a reduction in this type of thing too. 

Hah, some of us never get used to the heat! 24 here today but with a 19 dewpoint it's continued to feel very sticky. GFS has much the same here until Friday, except tomorrow where it's 26 (and no doubt warmer inland)... but Friday, a max of 18 and a 10 dewpoint... well, that may well feel fresh! 😁(I'd also say it's odds-on not to max out in the teens, but we'll see).

That'll give the CET a bit of a kick too, albeit Stonyhurst is letting things down - just 18.3!

I was sitting at home this evening thinking “the heatwave’s over, why do I still feel hot”, then I reminded myself that I still feel hot because it still is hot. 26C indoors and 25C outside currently. 

Funny how rarely Heathrow has been the hotspot this summer. Considering its reputation as the climate sceptic’s favourite UHI meme, it’s routinely been beaten by Wisley, Kew, various places on the South Coast and in East Anglia.
