Today's maximum temperatures in Edinburgh were 21.98°C at Gogarbank, 22°C at the airport, 21.64°C at the botanic gardens and 20.7°C at Swanston.

Down here in the Borders, today's maximum temperature at Charterhall was 21.45°C.

Today was slightly cooler than yesterday which was enough to scupper any possible chances of an official heatwave at the botanic gardens and Charterhall which had been introduced by yesterday's values, but these are still yet more 20+°C maximums right across the board as it continues to refuse to properly cool down.

Whilst Edinburgh was getting a soaking earlier on, there continued to be nothing here in terms of rainfall until this even when we finally got to join that party down here in Hawick at long last but even that has only amounted to some bits and pieces of light rain as that weather front has fizzled out quite a lot as it has eventually come down from the Central Belt.

Currently around 14/15°C in Edinburgh and around 17°C at Charterhall.

Meanwhile after a wet evening and night, rainfall totals for the 24hrs to 0700 (weatheronline) are 18mm and 20mm for Glasgow and Edinburgh

It's currently raining still and 16 C after a low of 16 C

More heavy rain to come this afternoon

A very uncomfortable night last night - still 22C at midnight, and even with the windows open it's 28C upstairs and 25C downstairs as of half four this morning. The brickwork of the house is still radiating the heat from yesterday's roasting.

Outside it's clear (of course), calm (not unusual) and 18.9, dew 15.8, which is the overnight low so far.

For once, the report from here in Hawick is similar to the reports given by Jerry and the Doc above.

It’s mostly sunny with a temperature of around 11°C.

As for the day ahead, there will probably be some cloud around at some point in time as there usually is but it’s probably not going to be raining regardless of whether or not, the forecasts suggest that it might rain. Furthermore, there will no doubt also be the usual 20+°C maximums across Edinburgh and the Borders despite the forecasts telling us otherwise.

That is basically how our weather normally is which barely ever changes from day to day wherever I am.

We've also had another 6.5mm of rain up to 0990 today thats a total of 37.6mm in the last 6 days. It's muddy underfoot now in the countryside and still fairly green

I'm probably going to notice a different landscape when I drive south to Nottingham on Saturday!

There was just a very brief passing shower this morning but apart from that, everything else is just the same as usual although there is a cooler feel to things today with the temperature currently at around 17°C here.
