Umbrellas used as parasols seem to have become a 'thing' this year. Very reasonable, but I don't remember this nearly as much in previous heatwaves. Do your observations agree?

More rain overnight here. Yesterday was mainly cloudy and I think maxed at 23c. Cloudy so far again today.

Weather has been a bit grimmer than I expected up here this week. It's just starting to rain again. I'm happy to be out of the extreme heat but was expecting less drizzle and more sun. I always like to have summery weather towards the end of July and beginning of August so feeling a bit left out up here!

For all that the hot weather is put on hold, it's still 24°C at 1030 this morning.

But this week has been very different.

These fires tend not to start on their own. The financial and social costs are carried by all of us. I wonder how the forensic fire investigators approach this area?

28.7c at Frittenden,  can we hit 30c today?

But is Frittenden on the ever growing Met Office naughty list?

Today is the seventh - and last - spell of the heatwave here, at least going by the MetO definition (27C). A remarkable run, as normally you get a sea breeze kicking in to break things up. Not this time!

The maxima have been (rounded) 28, 30, 28, 27(.4), 30, 35, 28. By far the warmest spell of the summer overall, even if it didn't beat the 35.8 of last month.
