Edit - now officially 30.0C at Charlwood so that's 31 30C days. Just four more needed to break the record. It is also nailed on to be the 18th day over 32C, just one short of 1995.

Didn't Charlwood go crazy back in 2022, 37c by 11am I think.

Yes it often seems to romp ahead early in the day and then get overtaken. It's often 2C or more warmer than Gatwick, only a mile away, too.

I feel E Anglia tends to be 'off the beaten track' when it comes to weather reporting.

I track a Davis PWS at Cliffe on the Hoo Peninsula and that’s done similar. Now 33.1C with a SSW wind. 

Vineyard on the other hand has dropped from a peak of 32.4 to 32.1.

Yes it's significant as it now becomes the 5th hottest day ever and only the 6th day above 100f.

Why so late? Other country that get a new record is immediately recorded on that day.   Very hot and sunny here now 30.5C.

Until 2022 I can't say I'd experienced anything like it in the UK...

It sounds like it was initially reported as an average rather than an outright max, which seems weird - must have been an hourly average or even shorter to be as high as that!

I do wonder about the Charlwood figures as they seem quite out of whack with other local stations. It seems like the Met are fairly stringent though.

Shoreham airport reported a max of 28.0 on Sunday which seems to have been struck from the record.

I see that Tenby recorded the warmest Welsh June night ever on June 25th. I was on holiday with my wife that week and we were staying in Tenby. I can vouch for the fact that this night and the one before were incredibly warm for Pembrokeshire. Outside late into the evening in t-shirt and shorts and still feeling warm  - was like being on the coast in the Med.
