Interestingly the MetO app has Edinburgh at 24 C on Sunday & Tuesday and 21-22 C for the rest of the week, so continuing warm for here 😎

Most likely. The met office have said in their written forecast a high of 30C somewhere in the the region.

South Wales has had an exceptionally hot summer so far.

It's a highly unusual period of weather and probably (though it would need research to verify) the hottest stretch in South Wales's recorded history.  Possibly 2006 or 1995 but I don't recall the day time maxes being so consistently high for so long.

Weatherobs has Ross-on-Wye at 30.2°C now and Southampton (not Oceanographic) at 30°C.

GFS has a 30C in Devon but UKV and Arpege aren't interested. I think that's our lot for this spell.

The 19th 30c+ day of a remarkable year so far, the previous most I've recorded here was 11 in a year. Still at just over 30.1c as the average daily max for July, not including today's higher value.

Yes and there some cool nights to come then warm up so time to look for heatwave 4 and hope this time give other areas some 30's too, like to see those further north who did not get a heatwave this year.   Last rain here was 22nd June when the storms came up and hit London hard while here was slight dampness.  So by 22nd July would be already 30 days but my longest dry streak was in 2018 at 60 days so a tall order if we can get this year to over take?  Mile End in London did 74 days which is very tall order to beat it.  This would take us to September to see first rain to arrive.

If it was a round 31.0 then that’s 43.5 points for the event, and probably our lot. 

as a reminder, second and third in recent history were August 2003 with 48.4 (in 10 days) and July 2006 with 47.3 (in 14). 

Sp fourth place in my lifetime. That’s on its own without considering the May and June events. 

At the end of summer (30 Sept unless there’s an October heatwave expected) I’ll calculate the seasonal score, which I think will blow other years out of the water.

Total: 46. 

The 1960s only managed 25 in the entire decade - so we've already had more this year than in the whole of the 1960s! The 1970s had 60. The 2020s have already had 105, as of today, which beats the previous decade record holder, the 1990s (with 104), and we're only two thirds of the way through the decade.
