We’ve just hit 35c here. Hottest day so far

Very breezy now but doesn’t seem to be doing anything to negate the temperature

We seem to have peaked at 34.4C here, 2C lower than yesterday.

Jersey now 38.9C, so a full degree above their all-time max.

As a point of interest, one more tenth at Yeovilton, 36.5C, would equal the 10th hottest day ever in the UK (19 July 2006). 36.8C would be enough to take no 7 outright.

It's 31c here with clear blue skies and a nicely moderate, easterly breeze, which is helping it to feel a bit more comfortable, the DP is 18c.

35° here and a hot wind. Tried to cool down with the hose but the water actually hurt!

It's also the hottest day ever recorded in Guernsey - 35.0C so far, beating 34.3 set in 2003.

We have had a late burst in this area - just nudged over 35C.

And we can add Middle Wallop and Merryfield to the list of stations that have beaten June 1976. Both airfields though, so obviously invalid 🙂

The afternoon shift has arrived on the  MetO website - and hurrah, they've spotted the 38C over Leysdown tomorrow. I still think tomorrow will see the highest temperatures from this heatwave (in absolute terms, not just here!)

Friday:

Exceptionally hot in another mainly fine day with sunshine, perhaps periodically hazy. Some early low cloud in coastal districts clearing. Gusty, thundery downpours possible initially, mainly in west. Maximum temperature 38 °C.
