"But who wants to be foretold the weather? It is bad enough when it comes, without our having the misery of knowing about it beforehand." — Jerome K. Jerome
Edinburgh, in the frost hollow below Blackford Hill
I think we will get the June record, but I think the forecast (which was also long shot) of 37C according to the MetOffice will be off.

Then there is the heavily built up city island of Portsmouth on the other side of the harbor - guaranteed to be 3-4 degrees warmer.
So the forecast for 37-38C is very much accurate it just down to the scarce official record sites that mean an official temp has yet to be received.
Anyway from past experience with the fleetlands station I'll await until later to see what the met office say as the hourly report can be under sometimes.
26 C now in Edinburgh, 2 C down on yesterday but much sunnier today 😎

I don't like to blow my own trumpet of course (as a certain YouTuber with the name of Mark Vogan would say) but this has clearly shown that my prediction of 25°C or above for today's maximum which I made earlier on today in the CC thread is much more in line with what happened than your estimate of only 24°C who you had made on that same thread, so that is something which I'm pleased about.
Max dewpoint today was 24.2!

Waiting.
Retire while you can still press the 'retire now' button.
Chris Fawkes on BBC weather yesterday said the June temperature record would be, qu, 'annihilated'.

I agree- the London area shouldn't- and was absolutely un-forecasted- to be the hottest place. This is due primarily to the wind direction. The Beeb and MetO predicted that the most southerly places would be the hottest- and Thorney Island, Hurn and Gosport all seem sensible.
I hope other local stations are taken into account so Torro has to put a * by this dubious record, if it becomes one.
Needs a bit of MetO honesty though.

Yes lol, I went to school nearby it's barely a hamlet.
I began to get some earlier this afternoon with slight giddiness as one example. So to catch it early on, I had a lie down with a wet cloth on my head, and ice packs which prevented it from going any further. The high humidity makes it worse, so I hope that others and I'm sure there will be some people experiencing it today, take preventative measures like mine. If it reaches a certain point, it's hard to get out of. And that's dangerous.
From the NHS:
Heat exhaustion does not usually need emergency medical help if you can cool down within 30 minutes. If it turns into heatstroke, it needs to be treated as an emergency.
