Still relatively "cool" at 23.5 C and overcast as "left over" post-storm cloud linger over my end of Kent, apparently it is hot and sunny over north and east Kent. Still, it is helping to slow down evaporation of water in soil from the recent thunderstorm that has given me 21 mm thus giving my beloved lawn and mum's memorial flowerbed a fighting chance.

31C here now. I have a new solitary wasp nesting box by the garden thermometer as two individuals, different species, were investigating the holes! Possibly: Slender Wood Borer Wasp - Trypoxylon attenuatum  and Ectemnius spp. "continuus" perhaps. The temperature seems to suit them!

Back on topic though, the temperature appears to have now peaked here with a bit more in the way of cloud around (currently around 27°C here in Edinburgh and I'm absolutely sweltering in this little flat of mines here in NW Edinburgh).

I am pretty sure Aberdeen's June record has been broken. It's currently 29⁰C at the airport. It's a little cooler here at 27⁰C (after reaching 27.9 a short while ago).

Oh and it's mostly sunny.

I think my max today will be 28.30°C so not quite as high as the official Aberdeen (Dyce) blue but very warm, for here nonetheless.

Today's maximum temperature was 28.45°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 28.69°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which provisionally makes today our hottest June day on record, and which has also given us our first 80+°F maximum of this year at all three of my local stations.

As at 7:40pm BST (18:40 UTC), a total of 9.1 hours of sunshine was recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

As I write, the temperature is still a very sultry 25°C here in Edinburgh.
