I left a hot Nottingham earlier which is at 26 C now

I've driven north to Scotch Corner which is totally cloudy and 18 C

Ahead of me a damp Edinburgh awaits at 16 C!

Might need the car heater on 😂

Bang on average today! Sunny, an ENE'ly breeze, 21.0/dew 17.0. The high so far is 21.4.

Odd to think it'll be 16C warmer in two days, going by the MetO raw!

Cloudy here all day with slabs of tortured looking altrostratus passing over and from which near continuous spits of rain are falling from. Not enough to wet the ground, but always felt on the skin. 19.7c in a near calm.

Around 32c here in Jersey, the joys of being within 14 miles of a red hot France.  Rennes, only 50 miles away is already 39c.  Our next three days forecast from Jersey Met are 38,38,37!  Unprecedented and quite scary

It's clouded over completely with some impressive lightning, according to the lightning maps over Wells in Somerset. Remarkable.

Oppressive, flat calm and still 30C after reaching 32C in the sunshine earlier. No rain here.

A high of 31.1c earlier but similarly to NMA has completely clouded over now. Down to 26.7c here though.

Looks like the storm will just about hit us in an hour or so but nothing like places further north. Swindon looks like it will get a big direct hit for example.

Still 25C outside as we approach 10:30pm

A nice Northeast breeze blowing but it isn't doing much towards shifting the indoor heat.

Slightly less humid with dew point finally dropping below 20C

Woken up from a crummy dream about staying in a run-down hotel in America - I guess I shouldn't have watched that "We stayed in the worst hotels in Texas" video yesterday evening, but I was curious!

And I was woken up by sheet lightning and thunder... and then the plonk... plonk... plonkplonkplonk of some very large raindrops. It's now chucking it down, thunder is rolling all around and yes, there's frequent lightning. Checking the gauge shows a rate of 56mm/hour, peaking at 103.8mm/hour just after I got up. And yes, it's all rain... torrential rain. 10.8mm so far, 0.8mm and counting as I'm writing this post!

18.8, dew 17.5, the overnight low so far being 18.1 yesterday evening. The high yesterday was 22.3, so this goes down as that most unusual of events: storms without suffering the heat! But that's to come, of course...

EDIT: Up to 14.9mm already!

Humid as heck out there, unsurprisingly, as the last of the cluster of storms pass just to the north. There was 19.8mm of rain all in, and it's a steamy-feeling 19.0/ dew 18.2. You just know that dewpoint will shoot up once the sun appears!

The lawn, incidentally, is still rock-solid underfoot. The vast majority of that rain just went straight into the nearest drain it seems.

Sunny at home and here in Reading after that cloudy start to the day. 1.8mm fell yesterday evening and overnight, a few cracks of thunder but nothing more.

Temp is up to 26.6c, now the sun has come out, about a degree or so hotter than this time yesterday.
