Sure the climate on a whole is warming, but i think urbanisation, and the expansion of tarmac & concrete, whilst simultaneously reduction in greenery are huge factors at play. 

I reckon had the current set up and heat happened in the 60-70's then we would probably have struggled with to get much more than mid 30's in prone areas.

I think it's mainly global warming.  The whole world is setting heat records all the time atm it's not just a UK thing.

Just in the last week heat records have been recorded in

North and South Africa, 

Multiple countries in Europe,

New Zealand 

Indonesia 

Thailand 

Australia 

Florida

Russian Arctic

Pakistan

Iran,

Kazakhstan, 

Brazil

I've probably missed a few.

Met Office going 37/40/40 here for Tue to Thur but iPhone still on 35/36/34 and BBC 35/36/36. There has been much more disparity this year than before the 2022 heatwave. I’m guessing the will meet in the middle in the 38-39 range.

Surely an error but the 18Z ARPEGE zoom chart on Meteociel has the top temperature of 43C on Wednesday on the Welsh coast near Llanarth. (Go to 72 hour max temp)
