Formerly of, Birdlip, highest village in the Cotswolds and snow heaven in winter; Hawkinge in Kent - roof of the South downs and Isles of Scilly, paradise in the UK.
Again I wonder- could the June record be approached or beaten in May?
Retire while you can still press the 'retire now' button.
The SE corner has seen quite a change in summer climate, Frequent heatwaves but also monsoons. Further north, you are still hanging onto what things used to be like, but that will probably change over time as well

Teddington will be the first of many today.

(It looks like there could be some hefty storms around later in the day to the north and west of London if it really does reach 35 or 36!)

A similar repeat this year would be welcome by some here, but not all, I would guess.

Heathrow is 4.4c above where it was this time yesterday. and we're only just at zenith. surely 35c is a given now and 35.6c looking quite achieveable.

That sounds about right - I think highest temperatures today were forecast to be to the North of London - East Midlands area. Will be interesting to see if the models are on the money.

We quite often don't actually get our maximum temperatures at this time of the year until very late in the afternoon, so it is now looking likely that this date record may well be broken.
Furthermore, both of these temperatures are higher than what DEW quoted on the MO thread as today's predicted maximum for here by the AIFS model so regardless of what now happens, that model has already at the very least, underestimated today's temperatures.
