29.2C here at 12.20 pm but seems to have evened out and stopped rising at the moment. There is a bit of a N.E breeze sprung up which might be attenuating the temps a bit.

Equalling the record- and the sun's not even at its zenith.

Again I wonder- could the June record be approached or beaten in May?

The SE corner has seen quite a change in summer climate, Frequent heatwaves but also monsoons. Further north, you are still hanging onto what things used to be like, but that will probably change over time as well

(It looks like there could be some hefty storms around later in the day to the north and west of London if it really does reach 35 or 36!)

There we go, a new record already! And the first comment doesn't disappoint either. 😂

(It also beats the disputed 33.4 from 1947).

Heathrow is 4.4c above where it was this time yesterday. and we're only just at zenith. surely 35c is a given now and 35.6c looking quite achieveable.

31.2C here. I was reading about the UK May 1944 hot spell. What happened after May and into June, was interesting.

A similar repeat this year would be welcome by some here, but not all, I would guess.

Just reached 32.5c here in Witney. Highest May temperature I've ever recorded and could push a little higher in the next 2 hours.

Today is now our hottest day of the year so far here in Edinburgh with a temperature of exactly bang on 24.0°C at Gogarbank and 24.5°C at the botanic gardens which is now just 0.8°C short of today's date record for there.

We quite often don't actually get our maximum temperatures at this time of the year until very late in the afternoon, so it is now looking likely that this date record may well be broken.

Furthermore, both of these temperatures are higher than what DEW quoted on the MO thread as today's predicted maximum for here by the AIFS model so regardless of what now happens, that model has already at the very least, underestimated today's temperatures.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
