After a mostly sunny start to today, it has clouded over with a few showers around but these aren't even registering at any of the nearby major Met Office stations, which means that the the struggle to get any meaningful rainfall totals here goes on as does the increasingly worse water scarcity situation as a result.

After rising to around 14°C an hour or so ago though, the temperature here in Edinburgh has now dropped back to a rather chilly 12°C which means that it's just about time to get the wooly jumpers back on now!!

EDIT:

It's now raining once again as I write but although it's coming down fairly heavy when it comes down, this is once again yet another shower which is passing over too quickly for any meaningful rainfall totals to be recorded from that, and we need to be seeing a lot more than it is we are to even see any improvements in the ongoing water scarcity situation, let alone ease that altogether. As I write, just over 15 mm of rain has been recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank. We are now almost halfway through the month and there has only been a total of 4.2 mm of rain at Edinburgh Gogarbank in the last week.

After the Sun returned for a while, we now have very heavy and almost torrential rain falling here in Edinburgh with some fairly bright echoes showing up on the latest radar maps.

I would therefore be absolutely astonished if there still wasn't any significant rainfall totals at the nearby major weather stations even with that.

Currently around 13°C here in Edinburgh

I'll get accused of bragging but just a quick catch up from near Portimao in the Algarve. Day 19 of 32 and constant sunshine so far. Max temps 30 C+ and Tropical nights. I'm extending summer! September is great here 🌞 Back to an Edinburgh autumn on the 26th

A line of thunderstorms long and narrow seems to be forming overhead. Shows well on radar.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 15.3°C.

A total of 5.4 hours of sunshine was recorded there for today in the end but those earlier downpours and showers delivered a much needed 5.4 mm of rain to there which actually makes today our wettest day for quite some time.

Currently around 10°C here in Edinburgh

Quite a bit of lightning over Lancashire tonight. I've just been watching some of it to my north west.
