Despite being mostly cloudy, it's been bright and 19 C so not a bad day

As at 6:40pm BST (17:40 UTC) this evening, a total of just 1.9 hours of sunshine had been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

This means that in the last 9 days which we have until the end of this month, a total of at least 16.1 hours of sunshine still need to be recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average with at least 16.4 hours of sunshine still needing to be recorded in order for this summer to go down as being sunnier than average.

However, today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 19.4°C which is more or less on a par with yesterday.

Currently around 17°C here in Edinburgh

Mellow. Partly cloudy, calm, warm. 16.3, dew 12.5, and that's the overnight low. Yesterday continued the run of 20s, with a late high of 22.7. Today is touch and go (both GFS and MetO raw have 20 as the high today), but beyond that there will be a continued run of 20s.

Not as cold as the night before, just stayed in double digits with 10.3c the low, after a high yesterday of 24.2c.

Not sure we'll get that high today, but looks like starting out mostly clear.

There's still some cloud around this morning but today is already starting off on a brighter and sunnier note than yesterday with a temperature of around 15°C here in Edinburgh.

From this, I can see that the next couple of days are just going to get warmer and sunnier yet again and as a result, this is all sounding far too much like a broken record now with a return to the same old conditions which we've seen throughout most of this year which is also why we have such an issue with water scarcity just now.

That is something which certain members should consider before coming on here just to say that it's a nice day where they are because although I like some nice weather myself occasionally, people on here need to realise that in order to properly appreciate those nicer days, we occasionally need the weather to be not so nice or even poor at other times, otherwise we just end in a situation in which we end up just taking all of our nice weather for granted and that's what makes it all rather boring and uninteresting in the end.

I'm not noticing any drizzle although the rain radar maps are showing that there is some drizzle in the vicinity. Even if there is though, that isn't going to be anywhere enough to help with the ongoing water scarcity situation and the only thing which will get us out of that is some proper rainfall over a sustained period of time and in terms of the weather being any different, I will not be happy with that being the case until we actually get that much needed rainfall.

It's also not as warm as what I was expecting with the temperature still stuck at around 17°C here in Edinburgh but I still remain convinced that warmer and sunnier weather is on the way and the latest Met Office forecasts even confirm that by going for a maximum of around 24°C here in Edinburgh by Monday. Once that happens, we will then be back to square one with the same old weather once again which we've been seeing for most of this year until now.

Quite disappointing today. The light drizzle from lunchtime is slowly becoming more persistent. The temperature has been stuck at 17 C since late morning

Stunning down here.. light sea breeze small amounts of cirrus and a current temperature of 21.9c. ..add to that an azure blue sea, yellow fields and palm trees and you would think your in the Mediterranean.
